Today’s moves (per PFT)…

  • New England and OT Matt Light close to agreement – Tom Brady will be very thankful when the Patriots sign his left tackle, Light, to stay. Light has been with New England every year of his 10-year career, and is a very good left tackle.
  • WR Roy Williams makes his home in Chicago after cut by Dallas – Scorned by his underperforming career in Dallas, Roy Williams makes his way to the Bears. Chicago, who desperately needed a passing weapon for QB Jay Cutler, agreed to sign a contract with last year’s NFC North champs.
  • Atlanta part ways with with WR Michael Jenkins, DE Jamaal Anderson – Both Jenkins and Anderson were first-round picks who severely under-produced with the Falcons. Thus, Atlanta (who happened to draft/sign players at WR and DE) have cut both players.
  • Tennessee gets DT Shaun Smith – AFter losing Jason Babin and releasing Tony Brown, the Titans needed a body to re-stock their line. Smith was legit, not great last year, but with key players leaving, they needed someone.
  • Pittsburgh cuts OT Flozell Adams – Why would they do that?!?! Oh, it’s because he’s washed up. That makes sense.
  • QB Vince Young eyeing Philadelphia – Even though released players are not supposed to be in contact with teams until 3:00 p.m. PDT today, reports have surfaced that Young will go to Philly on a one year deal backing up Michael Vick.
  • The Ryan Brothers are competing for CB Nnamdi Asomugha – Since the Texans signed CB Jonathan Joseph, they seemingly dropped out of the Asomugha race. The Niners seem to have receded as Dallas has surged forward to try and sign the star corner. The Jets are apparently still in the lead, but Jerry Jones can be convincing.
  • Miami signs QB Matt Moore, seems to pass on QB Kyle Orton – With the signing of the former Carolina quarterback, Miami’s pursuit of Orton seems to have been put on hold (particularly on Denver’s side, with Orton’s roster bonus kicking in).
  • Denver signs RB Willis McGahee – Apparently John Fox didn’t watch McGahee last year, because the Broncos gave him a three-year deal guaranteed $3 million.
  • Atlanta agrees to sign DE Ray Edwards – The Vikings lost their complement to DE Jared Allen as Edwards heads down to the ATL. As alluded to earlier, the Falcons signed Edwards to replace the disappointing Jamaal Anderson. Edwards should also help take the pressure off the aging-but-good DE John Abraham.
  • Atlanta does lose G Harvey Dahl to St. Louis – The Rams keep making good moves as they pick up a solid guard to protect QB Sam Bradford. Dahl, who was undrafted in 2005, was part of the solid line that protected Matt Ryan for his three years in the league.
  • New England cuts ties with DE Ty Warren – To the surprise of the talking heads, Ty Warren has been released by the Pats. Warren has been very good in consuming blockers as a five-technique DE, but was injured last season. Perhaps he was not able to recover as well as the Patriots thought.
  • LB Stewart Bradley goes to Arizona – Despite his wishes to stay an Eagle, Stewart Bradley has gone to Arizona as part of their effort to revamp their defense.
  • Jacksonville signs former Raven S Dawan Landry – Speaking of defensive overhauls, the Jaguars are doing major work in doing that, now signing Landry. Landry was a starter for Baltimore the past few years.
  • Oakland makes a good move! Signs OT Jared Gaither – The Raiders, who desperately need offensive line help, has agreed to acquired Baltimore free agent Jared Gaither. Although he has an injury history, the Raiders needed to make this risk.
  • CB NNAMDI ASOMUGHA SIGNS WITH PHILADELPHIA – In a shocking turn of events, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed the prize of the 2011 Free Agency class. Wow. I was watching NFL Network and no one had a clue of what happened when the Cowboys AND the Jets were out.
  • S Roman Harper stays in New Orleans – The 28-year old safety has signed a contract of four years to stay in NOLA as a key part of their defense.
  • St. Louis signs WR Mike Sims-Walker, CB Al Harris – The former: a receiver who has big play potential but also shrinks from time to time. Harris, the latter, is a seasoned veteran and was one of the better corners in his game, but his constant injuries hampered him
  • DT Brandon Mebane stays with Seattle
  • LB bust Vernon Gholston signs with Chicago
  • Ex-San Diego LB Kevin Burnett signs with Miami
