Brazil 2 Paraguay 2 – Fred scored in the 89th minute for Brazil, avoiding an embarrassing defeat to Paraguay. Jadson of Shakhtar Donetsk had previously given Brazil the lead with his 1st international goal but Paraguay came back with goals from Roque Santa Cruz and Nelson Haedo Valdez; both the result of sloppy Brazilian defending. With that draw, the favorites and seeded teams (Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay) now have zero wins, zero losses and six draws.

Venezuela 1 Ecuador 0 – Cesar Eduardo Gonzalez finished a fantastic Venezuelan build-up in the 62nd minute; almost assuredly putting them in the quarterfinals for the 2nd straight time and 2nd time overall. Venezuela have a 2 point lead over second place Brazil and Paraguay with just 1 match to play.
